All-Star Team Travels To Sparkman

The Prescott Junior Little League for the first time sent an All-Star team to Sparkman.

In July the area Little League All-Stars were held in Sparkman. Prescott always sends an All-Star team of 9- and 10-year-olds. This year the Junior Little League sent a group of talented young 8- and 9- year-olds to compete.

Prescott started working with the players on pitching, catching and base stealing skills, which were not done in Junior Little League.

The players, managed by Pat Loe, manager of the Holly's Health Mart team, and coached by David Loe, started off with Rosston, winning 24-10.

They went back on July 4 to play a tough bunch of 9- and 10-year-olds from Fordyce. The boys fought hard, but lost 15-1.

"This was a great experience for the team, Pat Loe said. "Especially since Fordyce has won the championship three years in a row."

Prescott then returned on July 6 to take on a big bunch of boys from Hampton.

Prescott stayed close in this game until the pitching gave out. Hampton won this 22- 13.

Many commented on how well these young boys played against the older kids.

All the parents put in long hard hours to make this opportunity for the boys.
