BoughtonMrs. Willie HooksPublished Wednesday, November 4, 1998 in the Nevada County Picayune I will brag while I can. We're still having ideal weather and had enough rain to settle the dust. Everett and Mary Orren and Huey Garner attended the funeral of L.V. Morris of West Monroe, La., Thursday. L.V. died Tuesday after a lengthy illness. His wife, Barbara, (Frizzell) was raised in our community and has several cousins living here. We extend our sympathy to this family. Our son, Willie Hugh, of Hot Springs spent a couple of days with us. On Thursday night he took us to visit and have supper with our granddaughter, Tammy Scoggins, and her husband, Steve, and son, Wynn, of Malvern. Tammy and Steve's home was blown away in the tornado that hit Arkadelphia. Instead of building back they bought a beautiful home in Malvern. We were proud to see their new home. Francis (Mrs. Jack) Barham and her son of Owasso, Okla., spent Saturday night with Mary Ann and J.D. Lucas. Other visitors of J.D. and Mary Ann Lucas during the week were Mildred and J.D. Kelly and Willie and myself. Jackie and Georgia Johnson of Florida are visiting a few weeks with his mother, Mildred Johnson. Jackie plans to do some deer hunting later. Some of their company over the weekend were Doug and Carol Johnson of North Little Rock, John and Tammy Snyder of Fort Polk, La., Gayle and Don Shelton, Tammy Michelle and Maria and Dickie and Clinton Johnson. Elsie Elmore had dinner with Cathryn and Pete Jester and Jimmy Joe Saturday. The Halloween party at the home of Donald and Patricia Ingersoll Saturday night was well attended. Everyone enjoyed a wiener roast and hay ride. Willie and I enjoyed Roy and Syble Brown visiting us Thursday afternoon. Several of Doris Ridgell's children and grandchildren visited here during the week Doris' family is so good to visit her. A thought: Those who don't read have no advantage over those who can't.
