Paul E. EdwardsPublished Wednesday, September 1, 1999 in the Nevada County PicayunePaul Edward Edwards, 90, died Monday, August 23, 1999, at Williamsburg Village Nursing Center in DeSoto, Texas, after a lengthy illness. Mr. Edwards was born September 1, 1908, in Nevada County to William Yancy and Dora Lee Carruthers Edwards. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the 381st Regiment Service Co., 96th Division. Before his retirement as consignee for the Mobil Oil Co. bulk plant in Prescott, he faithfully delivered gasoline to numerous businesses locally and in surrounding counties for 30 years. Mr. Edwards was a member of the Church of Christ in Prescott before moving to DeSoto, where he lived with his daughter and son-in-law until early this year. He especially loved and enjoyed his family, music and the many friends made over the years, never meeting a stranger. He was preceded in death by his former wife, Jewelle Dickerson Edwards; four brothers, Walter, Lon and Fred Edwards; and five sisters, Leola Mann, Emma McDaniel, Lera Williams and Eva Edwards; (twins Louis and Lois Edwards died at birth). Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Paula and Bill Scott of DeSoto; one grandson and his wife, Brent and Heather Scott of Grand Prairie, Texas; one granddaughter and her husband, Kim and Robby Gary of Irving, Texas; and a host of nieces and nephews. Services were Wednesday, August 25, in the Shackelford Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jerry Westmoreland officiating.
