WCG Women Gather At Church

Published Wednesday, November 18, 1998 in the Gurdon Times

The Women of the Church of God (WCG) met Monday, November 9, at the church.

Vivian Spruill presented the lesson and hosted the meeting.

There were twelve ladies in attendance. They were Thelma Mizell, Doris Vance, Eulah Wilson, Shirley Smithpeters, Vivian Spruill, Janet Toland, Velvet Gonzales, Rhonda Spruill, Jeannie Burchfield, Mary Henry, Floreda Briscoe and Peggy Webster.

The lesson was entitled 'Brazil: Giant on the Move.' Brazil is a multi-cultured country. People from all over the world have settled in the South American country.

Brazil has the unpleasant distinction of being number one in the wold in inequality of wealth. Its per capita income is next to the lowest in the world. A strange fact for a land with abundant resources and thriving industry.

There are 45 Church of God congregations in Brazil with a count of 2,800 members. The church faces many challenges in this multi-cultural society, including language barriers and varieties of customs. However, these challenges can easily be conquered by prayer and faith in the words of God found in Ephesians 2: 11-22.
