Classy MomentsPublished Wednesday, November 18, 1998 in the Gurdon TimesAs you may know, Jasmine Ware, a fourth grader at Gurdon Primary School, was hit by a car as she was crossing Third Street the Friday of homecoming. The injuries could have been worse than they are, but we are happy to report that she is expected to have full recovery in a few months. This accident was terrifying, as several who witnessed it have expressed. After surgery and a few days in Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock, Jasmine is back home with her parents and sister Tiffany. Her two broken legs are already in the healing process and it is our prayer that there will not be any complications for this young lady. Mom, Dad, Tiffany and Jasmine, just remember that you are thought of daily and loved dearly. Mrs. Clingan's eighth graders have been reciting the Declaration of Independence, although most of them said they would never be able to do that. They were surprised at themselves and very proud of their accomplishment. Bobby Sims, Ely Bryant, Rosalyn Marlow, Jason Smallwood and Barak Gills really made the assignment a pleasure. What's next? The seventh graders have been learning the 75 counties in Mrs. Clingan's class. The map of the state was divided into four sections. Students were tested over each section and then the complete map. Requirements were to correctly identify each county on a map and be able to correctly spell each county. Derrick Puckett made 100% on all five tests. Several made extremely good grades, but Derrick was the only one to have the perfect grade. Mrs. Clingan is very proud of the accomplishments, but especially proud of the study time that Derrick put in on this assignment. Next week Mrs. Greene's youngest daughter will have surgery and we extend our love and prayers to that family. Just remember to let us know if you find something that we can do for you. Basketball is back! Our junior high girls and boys have the season off to a great start, as they have won the two games they have played. Great job! The jewelry sale is going extremely well for the fifth and sixth graders. Mrs. Butler's home room class is leading in sales. They are ready for an ice cream party! The Cabe Middle School Student Council assembly will be Tuesday, November 24, at 10:00 a.m. in the high school gym. The welcome mat is out to you and hopefully you can find time to join us. We are very happy to know that high school student Brandon Jenning is all right after his car accident. Although he has sore spots and bruises, it could have been so much worse. His mom probably suffered more than Brandon by just knowing that he was in an accident as 'moms are like that.' Vickie, maybe now you can get some rest. David Clingan, Mrs. Clingan's baby, is getting married in December. She was asked if she likes her future daughter-in-law and the reply was, "She is simply marvelous as she loves my son." Jessica, you are precious and very much welcomed into the Clingan family. Hope each of our readers are well and happy. We appreciate you so much as we are making Classy Moments at Cabe Middle School.
