Food Drive UnderwayBY JOHN MILLERPublished Wednesday, November 18, 1998 in the Gurdon Times For the second year, the Gurdon Times, and Gurdon Rotary Club are sponsoring a food drive to help the area's needy during the holiday season. Last year 21 area families were helped with boxes of food. These boxes included canned and dried goods along with at least two frozen chickens and bread. In some cases, this was the only Christmas the recipients had. This year's food drive will collect canned food and dried goods until Friday, Dec. 11, with the items collected delivered Friday, Dec. 18. Churches are being asked to help with members bringing a canned item with them each Sunday until the deadline. Items can also be dropped off at the Gurdon Times office during business hours.
