RosstonPublished Wednesday, November 18, 1998 in the Nevada County PicayuneMarguerite Williams Last week's news: Rosston Church had Thanksgiving lunch Sunday after a great program by our youth and an inspiring sermon by our pastor, Bro. Petie Ward. After services Sunday night we all had left overs for supper. It was a fun day as everyone dressed old fashioned. Some of the men wore overalls and the ladies wore long dresses. Some were furnished by Darla Wise of Benton, who has performed in the Civil War enactment around the country. She furnished bonnets and purses and I furnished some old fashioned hats that I've saved from 'years gone by.' After the sermon Sunday morning we were blessed to have Bob and Cindy Grisham unite with our church by letter. We know they will be a blessing to us and we pray that we will be a blessing to them. Josie Rollins of Ft. Worth, Texas, formerly of Rosston, broke a hip several weeks ago. She has been in rehab, but is out now. She had planned to visit Paul and Dot Broussard during deer season, but will be unable to come. I'm sure she would appreciate hearing from friends and neighbors here. Her address is 6400 Whitman, Ft. Worth, TX 76133. Our great grandson, Tyler McKinnon, of Texarkana spent from Wednesday until Saturday with Roscoe and me. On Thursday afternoon we took him to see the circus at the airport in Hope. It was a five-ring circus and the first Roscoe and I had seen in about 40 years, so we enjoyed it as much as Tyler. Dot Broussard and her Uncle Ross McKissack of Hope also attended the circus. Roscoe and I visited with Aunt Artie Hart in St. Michael Hospital on Wednesday. She was put back in the rehab center on Saturday and we visited her again. Her son, Sims, and granddaughter and husband, Bob and Sherry Stranford of Casa Grande, Ariz., came on Monday and spent the week with her. Please remember her in your prayers as she has problems other than a broken hip. Mrs. Bulah Simpson of Willisville is home, but in serious condition. Bro. Milton Langston is also in serious condition and needs our prayers. Remember all these sick people when you talk to the Lord. Jim and Mona Dixon were not able to be in church Sunday. They are battling colds and sinus problems. Tommie Lew Jarvis has been to Houston, Texas, this week to see her doctors there. Daughter, Pat, brought her home on Thursday. Please pray for her. Maxine Luck has been back to Little Rock to see a doctor, but failed to get to see him. She will go back in December. Happy hunting to all our deer hunters. Son, Dwight, of Texarkana will be here Friday for a few weeks' vacation while deer season is in. Brad Hart of McAllen, Texas, will come Friday to spend a few days with J.P. Hart and visit the Hart-Fairchild hunting club. Roscoe and I will be spending some time over there. Hope everyone has a safe hunt. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
