Nevada Junior Teams Off To Good StartPublished Wednesday, November 18, 1998 in the Nevada County PicayuneThe two Nevada junior teams posted wins last week at Nevada. Friday night the junior boys squeaked by Bradley, 41-37, in a game that had been tied only moments before. On Tuesday last week the junior girls had to hold off Blevins to win, 39-35, in a conference game. Ronald Pearson of Nevada was the game's leading scorer Friday against Bradley with 16 points. Mathew Young followed with 10 points. Recarto King scored 8 points for Nevada and Jonathan House scored 7. George Worth led Bradley with 12 points. Jordan of Blevins was the game's leading scorer against the Nevada junior girls. Right behind her was Erica Loudermill who led Nevada with 23 points. Others scoring for Nevada were Jenifer Harding with 9; Stephanie Williams with 3; and Turunza Heard and Cormakailla Ingram with 2 points each. Being the girls' only game this season, they are now 1-0. Nevada's junior boys are now 1-1 in league play, but are 4-2 overall. They defeated Blevins, 38-25; (conference, Oct. 22) Emerson, 48-41; Waldo, 56-49; and Bradley. They have lost to Saratoga, 54-30, and to Stephens, 40-30 (conference, Nov. 6).
