Baker, Glass Vows Exchanged

Julie Ann Baker became the bride of Steven Lee Glass on Saturday, September 12, at 4:00 in the afternoon. Rev. Jerry Westmoreland of Prescott officiated the service at the Tamarac Ballroom of Special Events in Texarkana, Texas.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Larry G. Baker of Prescott. She is the granddaughter of Rose and the late Tilman Baker of Magnolia and Robert and Billie Mayes of Stephens.

The bridegroom is the son of Mary Ann Glass of Maumelle and Ronald Lee Glass of Little Rock. He is the grandson of Ruby Glass Ward of Benton.

The guest book table attended by Nicole May of Benton, was adorned with a heart shape Victorian lace guest book. A bouquet of beautiful pink tulips were displayed in a large crystal vase and tied with a pink chiffon ribbon. A sterling silver platter displayed the lilac bird seed bags, with contrasting shades of purple ribbon. Also the throw away bouquet of a dozen pink roses, pink snaps and pink wax flowers was shown on the table.

The Tamarac Ballroom was adorned with Grecian columns draped with white tulle and enormous arrangements of fresh cascading pink stargazer lilies, lavender stock, purple larkspur, pink Canterbury, lavender lace carnations, pink pinwheel asters, pastel roses and lemon leaves and Italian Ruscus greenery.

In front of the columns were numerous candelabras wrapped with white tulle, fresh ivy and streamers of pearls.

Two dramatic fresh arrangements in white urns sat upon white columns wrapped in white tulle and fresh ivy. The flowers were purple and fushia glads, fushia roses, asters, bells of Ireland, spider mums in pastel colors, purple, white and pink larkspur, fushia and purple carnations, lavender cremons, white pink, purple and lavender stock, white, pink and purple Canterbury bells, purple veronica and dozens of pastel colored roses. Eucalyptus draped over the bottom of the urns, which were on each side of the ceremony stage.

The aisle was lined with a crisp white runner. White tulle was draped on the top of the chairs on each side, and aisle candelabras were adorned with white tulle and ivy. Also down the aisle were floor arrangements of fresh hot pink stargazer lilies, fushia carnations, white and purple spider mums, Gerber daisies, purple stock, lavender cremons, greenery and baby's breath.

Pianist Jacklyn O'Hara of Texarkana provided the prenuptial music, the music for the Bridal March and the recessional music. Favorite musical selections chosen by the bride and groom were played spontaneously throughout the ceremony. These songs were: It's Your Love by Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, I Don't Want to Miss A Thing, by Aerosmith and From This Moment by Shania Twain and Bryan White.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride was breath taking in an elegant gown by Eden of New York. The gown featured a hand-jeweled sweetheart neckline with a princess bodice of satin, embellished with hand-beaded maderia, embroidery Basque waistline, with a peplum accented with roses, long filled lace sleeves, shirred satin skirt accented with maderia lace with a lace and pearl cathedral train. The extraordinary crown style veil featured hand-beaded seed pearls.

The bride carried a Victorian bouquet of two dozen pastel colored roses, ranging from candlelight, pale yellow, pink, and lavender to purple, pink Bovardia, pink wax flowers, white dendrobium orchids, pale pink tulips and lemon leaves completing the bouquet with English ivy flowing underneath.

The bride chose Mandy McKinnon as her matron of honor.

Bridesmaids were Kortnee McDonald Redden of Texarkana, Jeannie Beard of Benton and Kim Cottingham of Prescott.

The bridesmaids were elegant in simple A-line dresses of silk crepe with an open back and tied neckline featuring matching shawls. Each dress was a different shade of purple ranging from lavender to amethyst.

The matron of honor carried a bouquet of one dozen pastel roses, pink and white wax flowers and tied with a white satin ribbon.

The bridesmaids' bouquets were smaller of a half-dozen pastel roses, wax flowers, and tied with white satin ribbon.

Flower girl was Shelby Cottingham of Prescott. She wore a lilac satin dress with puff sleeves and a peplum with roses, matching the bride. Baby's breath was worn in her hair and she carried rose petals in a satin and lace basket.

Ronald Lee Glass of Little Rock served his son as best man.

Groomsmen were Scott McAdoo of Sims, Paul Tudor of Benton and Toby Cottingham of Prescott.

The groomsmen's and father's boutonnieres were white Tineke roses, with Italian Ruscus greenery.

The groom's boutonniere was a double lavender rose, with Italian Ruscus greenery and misty blue filler.

The ring bearer was RC Ragsdale of Magnet Cove. He carried a satin and ribbon pillow.

Guests were seated by Melvin Haneline and Jeff Tudor both of Benton.

The mother of the bride selected a sleeveless floral dress featuring iridescent sequins and a matching chiffon shawl.

The groom's mother chose a long ivory two-piece suit.

The groom's stepmother chose a deep plum two-piece suit featuring see-through sleeves.

Immediately following the ceremony a reception was held.

The wedding cake was decorated with fresh flowers of fushia and purple gladiola blooms, pink mini carnations, white dendrobium orchids and pastel roses cascading from the top and around the five tiers.

The groom's table held a three-tiered chocolate cake featuring fresh cascading chocolate dipped strawberries. Also on the table were heart shaped mints and party nuts.

A large swan ice sculpture was the centerpiece of the buffet table which featured a three- tiered fruit tray with dip, a sandwich tray, cheese and cracker tray and a vegetable and dip tray.

Champagne punch flowed through the lavish silver champagne fountain. Also served was wedding punch, keg beer and coffee.

The couple chose a sports fantasy honeymoon in St. Louis, Mo., where they saw Mark McGwire hit his 63rd home run.

The couple now reside in their new home in Prescott.

The groom's parents hosted a rehearsal dinner for the wedding party on Friday, September 11, at Red Lobster in Texarkana.

A miscellaneous shower was held Saturday, August 1, at the home of Lanora Dalrymple. Hostesses were Lanora Dalrymple, Joan Barton, Mary Cobb, Kim Cottingham and Mandy Harris.

A drop-in kitchen shower was held Saturday, August 22, at the home of Linda Vansickle. Hostesses were Linda Vansickle, Margaret Webb and Ann Wilson.

A 'fun' party was held Tuesday, August 25, in honor of the bride at the home of Mandy Harris.
