William 'Bill' Cummings

William A. 'Bill' Cummings, 86, died October 20, 1998, in Plano, Texas.

Mr. Cummings went to New Mexico from his home in Arkansas in 1937 to work in the then booming oil fields of the Permian Basin. He was a skilled and respected heavy equipment and diesel mechanic. He and his wife were the proprietors of Cummings Engine Service and Supply in Hobbs, N.M., retiring in 1972. They recently relocated to Dallas, Texas, to be near family. He was known for his sense of humor and his love of hunting and fishing. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hobbs.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Billie Arnold Cummings; a daughter, Carolyn Mills of Dallas; a son, Steve Cummings of Williamsburg, Va; four granddaughters, Carrie Williams and Melanie Mills of Dallas, Texas, Laurie Cummings of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Brandi Bradley of Richmond, Va.; and three great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at the Marlbrook Cemetery near Blevins at 10 a.m. Saturday, November 28.
