Festival Deadline NearBY JOHN MILLERPublished Wednesday, September 29, 1999 in the Gurdon Times Time is winding down for young ladies planning to enter the 15th Annual Forest Festival Pageant. This year's pageant will be held Saturday, Oct. 23, at the old Gurdon High School auditorium. There will be four divisions of competition, starting with Tiny Miss for ages 3-5; Little Miss for those 6-8; Princess for contestants 9-12; and Queen, for those 13-18. Awards will be handed out to the second runner up, first runner up and photogenic in each category, along with the crowing of a queen for each as well. But, an interview award will only be awarded in the queen division. Those planning to enter should know the entry fee is $30, and entry forms can be picked up at Billy's Main Street Florist in Kuhn's Hardware. According to pageant information, girls in the Little, Tiny and Princess branches can wear any dress of their choosing on stage. However, those vying for the crown of Forest Festival Queen are asked to wear a pageant dress for judging, and a fashionable outfit of their choosing for the interview session. Entry forms, along with a recent photo, must be turned in no later than Monday, Oct. 12. Photos for the photogenic competition should be no smaller than 5 by 7 and should be of good quality. These, too, must be turned in with the entry forms. Once again, the pageant is sponsored by the Gurdon Community Development and Entertainment Club in conjunction with the annual Gurdon Forest Festival.
