Burglar Has No Escape Plan

A 37-year-old Prescott man learned a valuable lesson Thursday, Nov. 19.

The lesson -- if you're going to break into a business, you should plan an escape route as well.

Officers Joey Beavers and Wayne Sorrells, with the Prescott Police Department, answered an alarm going off at the Quality Pawn Shop around 11 p.m. on the night in question.

When they arrived, they saw someone inside the building with a shotgun in hand.

The officers called for backup and notified Prescott Police Chief Willie Latin. Chief Deputy Wally Hulan and Criminal Investigator Wayne Kisselburg also arrived at the scene. The owner of the business was called as well.

By the time backup had arrived, though, Beavers and Sorrells had the suspect laying face down by the door.

Railey, it seems, had climbed onto the roof of the building and entered through a vent. However, once between the roof and ceiling, he missed a step and fell through the ceiling onto the floor.

The problem, though, is he had no way out once he had gotten inside, as he couldn't get back to the hole in the ceiling.

Railey was charged with commercial burglary.
