Classy MomentsPublished Wednesday, December 2, 1998 in the Gurdon TimesWe sincerely hope that you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and did not 'over indulge' with all of the good food. It is so nice to just have the time together with family. The holiday season is a very busy time of the year, but it is such a special family time. Treasure the memories. We had very special guests to visit our school, Clay and Danielle Cabe and Clay's mom, Anita Cabe. Mrs. Clingan had the privilege of being the tour guide, which just happens to be one of her favorite things to do. Clay was very impressed with the building and furnishings. He commented that 'a big step up' was very evident and he was very proud for the students, teachers and the community. The CMS Student Council assembly was canceled last week due to the cancellation of the program that was expected to perform. The citizen students for November will be announced at the December assembly. We have received the news that Mrs. Cox will be retiring on January 1 as the dietician of the Gurdon Public Schools. This has been a difficult decision for her and we wish her the best. The Student Council has started the food drive. The class that brings the most non- perishable items will receive a very special treat. To be able to help someone who needs a little help to make their holiday more enjoyable provides us with such a wonderful feeling. Just remember, if you would like to help in this project, please bring the food items to our school or call us to make other arrangements. Also, the Student Council is sponsoring the 'Coats for Kids' again this year. If you have a coat that is no longer needed, please help us to provide coats for students who need them. This is not just for our building, as we will be checking with the other two schools to see if they have students who need a warm coat also. Bring them to the school or give us a call. This was a big success last year and such a rewarding experience knowing that students were able to keep warm with a little help from friends. We are certainly proud of our junior girls basketball team, as they are on a winning streak. Go, Girls! Mrs. Clark, co-sponsor of Beta, has been busy getting gingerbread men and Christmas trees ready to go on the locker sash of each seventh and eighth grader's locker. The sash is such a neat idea, as it has the name of the student and various symbols to represent if that student is a band member, cheerleader, Beta member, Student Council member, football player or basketball player. All symbols are paper and attached to the sash, which is on the outside of the locker door. Good job, Mrs. Clark, and a big thank you for making the lockers look nice and especially recognizing the students in a special way. The welcome mat is always out for you, just give us a call and I know one person who would enjoy being your tour guide. Remember you are special to us as we make those Classy Moments at Cabe Middle School. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
