Cancer Group Has Formed For SupportPublished Wednesday, December 2, 1998 in the Nevada County PicayuneThe Nevada County Unit of the American Cancer Society has organized a support group to provide a forum for cancer patients and their loved ones. The organizational meeting of this group was held Tuesday, Nov. 12. The group plans to meet on a monthly basis, hopefully on the second Thursday of each month. The meetings will take place at the St. Michael Health Center Community Room at 7 p.m. The group will assist patients and their families with talks and presentations from health care professionals knowledgeable in the field of cancer research and treatment. There will also be discussions with patients and other participants sharing experiences, problems, concerns and generally helping one another cope with the disease. This will allow survivors and others a means of helping those fighting cancer. Members of the local ACS board of directors who organized the support group are: Joan Barton, Lenora Dalrymple and Von Gordon. Those interested in joining the group should contact these people.
