Nevada Lady Blue Jays Chalk Up Two More WinsPublished Wednesday, December 9, 1998 in the Nevada County PicayuneIn non-conference action, the Nevada senior girls have improved their overall record with wins over Waldo and Saratoga. The senior boys lost to Waldo, but defeated Saratoga. The Waldo games were played November 24 at Nevada, just 24 hours after the Prescott- Nevada games. The Lady Jays took care of the Waldo senior girls, 54-38, while the Nevada senior boys lost 77-51. Ramona Evans dumped nine 2-point field goals and hit 2 out of 4 free shots to lead the Lady Jays. Alexis Madison followed with 18 points, all field goals. Others scoring for Nevada were Nekina Adair with 6 points and Jackie House, Shiheta Henry, Pam Young, Correnthia Gulley and Ronetha Pearson each had 2 points. Kellie Johnson was the leading scorer for Waldo with 16 points.Y'Keia Witcher added 14 to the Waldo score. Nevada held an 11-8 edge after one quarter, and they led 23-14 at halftime. The score was 36-28 going into the final period, when the Lady Jays added 18 more points to take the victory. The Nevada senior boys did not fair as well as the Bulldogs pounded them 77-51. Waldo led the Blue Jays, 16-12 after one quarter and 33-25 at the halfway mark. The score had increased to 51-39 going into the final period, where the Bulldogs out-scored Nevada, 20-12.
