Nevada Junior Girls Lose

The Nevada junior girls lost two games during the past week, one a real squeaker.

The loss sustained by the junior Lady Jays was in the tourney with Gurdon eliminating them in overtime, 61-54, on Monday, November 30.

Gurdon out-scored the Nevada team 8-1 in the extra period.

Jenifer Harding of Nevada was the game's leading scorer with 25 points.

Erica Loudermill added 11 points to the Nevada score, and Tyrunza Heard, Lindsey Curtis and Stephanie Williams counted for 6 apiece.

For Gurdon it was Tonjo Russey with 21 points, Sona Beasley 19, and Lavada Dickens with 14.

The two teams were tied at 14 after one quarter, but Gurdon held a 2-point advantage at halftime. It was tied at 53 points at the end of the regulation period.

The night after the Gurdon loss, the junior Lady Jays were defeated by Saratoga, 33-19, in a non-conference game played at Nevada.

Harding scored 12 points to lead her team. Williams scored 3 and Heard and Loudermill scored 2 points each.

The leading scorers for Saratoga were Jakisheta Hopkins with 11 points and Sonya Thomas with 10.
