Nevada County EligiblePublished Wednesday, December 9, 1998 in the Nevada County PicayuneNevada County is one of the counties named by Secretary of Agriculture Dan Glickman as being eligible for Farm Service Agency emergency farm loans due to losses caused by drought from May 1 through July 31 Other eligible counties in southwest include Clark, Hempstead, Lafayette, Pike, Howard and Ouachita. Other counties in the state have already been named for the disaster. Farmers in the disaster areas have until July 5, 1999, to apply for the loans to help cover part of their actual losses. To be eligible, producers must have suffered at least at 30 percent loss of normal production in a single enterprise, be able to repay the loan and any other loans, be unable to obtain credit elsewhere, and have adequate security.
