STORE ROBBEDPublished Wednesday, December 9, 1998 in the Nevada County PicayuneThe Prescott Piggly Wiggly grocery store was robbed Nov. 18. According to NCSO reports, Stanley Pierce, 36, was observed by two store employees, both knowing him by name, as he wasn't supposed to be at the store. He took two cartons of cigarettes, and when confronted by the two who had seen him take the cigarettes, he implied threats and fled. Under law, the implication of threat of bodily harm increases the severity of the crime, going from theft to robbery. Pierce was arrested Tuesday, Dec. 1, while appearing in court on another matter.
