Girl Killed In Traffic AccidentBY JOHN MILLERPublished Wednesday, December 9, 1998 in the Gurdon Times Tragedy struck the Gurdon area when a 17-year-old girl was killed Friday, Nov. 26. According to reports from the Arkansas State Police, Troop K in Hot Springs, the accident occurred at 7:44 p.m. on Highway 53 south of Gurdon. Reports state Debra King and three others were walking north on the west shoulder of the road when King tripped. The trip caused her to fall into the path of an oncoming pickup, which struck and killed her. The 1985 Ford pickup was driven by Jonas Key of Taylor. King was pronounced dead at the scene.
