Baring Cross Missionary Baptist Church To Hold Live Drive Through NativityPublished Tuesday, December 15, 1998 in the Gurdon TimesBaring Cross Missionary Baptist Church will present a 'drive through' live Nativity on their church ground Thursday and Friday nights, December 17 and 18, from 7:00 until 9:00 both nights. Church members will portray characters of the nativity, including Mary and Joseph, shepherds, the wise men and angels. Live animals, such as sheep, goats, cattle and burros will be in the scene. Signs bearing scripture references will identify each scene. This is the 15th year for the church to present the live nativity. What began in 1984 as one scene with makeshift props and costumes has grown into five scenes with permanent props and costumes made by members of the church. In recent years over 2000 people have visited the live nativity. Due to the large number of people driving through each year, viewers are discouraged from leaving their cars and walking on church grounds. The parking lot will be marked for entrance and exit and the drive through route will be marked with luminaries. The nativity will go on in spite of weather conditions. The church is located at 1511 Walnut Street in Arkadelphia. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
