Piggly Wiggly Is Sold; Now Thomason's Big Star

Terry Thomason is the new owner of Gurdon's grocery store.

Piggly Wiggly is now Thomason's Big Star, with Thomason taking control of the store Monday, Dec. 14.

He said all current employees will be retained, with Terry Dixon taking over as store manager.

Thomason managed the grocery store for 12 years before leaving Gurdon and purchasing the Country Butcher store in Bismarck.

Now, he said, Thomason Grocery Company, Inc., has two stores, with Gurdon's Piggly Wiggly added.

The Bismarck store is supplied by Affiliated Foods Southwest of Little Rock, and will continue getting its goods from this supplier. Gurdon is supplied by Fleming Foods and will stay with this company.

"We'll have the best of both worlds," he said, "being connected with two warehouses. We can shuffle things around and it will be better for everyone."

Thomason said it will take some time, but he will run a good, clean operation with better pricing, selection and customer service.

He and Dixon will both take active rolls in the community as well.
