New trainees, following receipt of their Master Gardner certification, will be asked to donate a minimum of 40 hours to help Nevada County Extension agents train others.

Training begins on January 27 with instruction on basic botany, principles of horticulture, soils and fertilizer, irrigation, pest control and pesticide use.

Other training sessions include vegetable production, home fruit production, landscaping and lawns.

All training will be conducted by University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service professionals. A fee of $60 covers books and other materials.

Deadline for applying is January 6. For details, contact the Nevada County Extension office at (870) 887-2818.
