Chapter 2008 Holds MeetingPublished Tuesday, December 15, 1998 in the Nevada County PicayuneChapter 2008 of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees met December 8 at the Western Sizzlin of Hope for its annual Christmas dinner. There were 13 members and three guests who attended. The guests were Faye Andrews, Grady Faye McCaskill and Everett Taylor, who is the District Federation officer. He was also the speaker. After dinner, Davis Benton presided over a short business session. The invocation was given by Gertrude Firmin. There was a moment of silence in memory of Mattie Jean Atkins. The guest speaker gave a report on the seminar in Pine Bluff. He reported on how well organized the seminar was, furnishing many helps for new officers. Those attending from this chapter were incoming president Flo Brackman and vice president Elaine Barlow. Taylor installed the new officers for the new year: president, Mrs. Flo Brackman; vice president, Elaine Barlow; secretary, LeWanna Plyler; and treasurer, Ed Hubbard. Other officers are Davis Benton, service officer; Cecil Bernard of Hope, Legislative officer; Gertrude Firmin, membership chairwoman; Clois Newman, program chairwomen; Mary Hubbard and Nettie Lemons, devotional chairwomen; and Henlen Benton, sunshine chairwoman. There are many helps concerning health benefits, colas and survivors benefits at these meetings for retired federal employees. Anyone desiring to be a member may contact Mrs. Firmin.
