Joe A. BaileyPublished Tuesday, December 15, 1998 in the Nevada County PicayuneJoe A. Bailey, 74, of Malvern died Tuesday, December 8, 1998. Mr. Bailey was born January 30, 1924, in Prescott to the late Joe A. and Lude Marsh Bailey. He was a member and past Master of Rockport Lodge 58, Solomon Council 46, and Trinity Commandery 33 K.T. He was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church, where he was active in many areas. He taught the John Lindsay Sunday school class, served as coordinator of the ushers, was a trustee of the church, and served on many committees and boards. After serving in the U.S. Army during World War II, he returned home to attend college at the Arkansas A&M at Monticello and LSU in Baton Rouge, La., where he received a bachelor of science degree in forestry. He began his career with International Paper Company in Delight in 1950 and retired in 1985 from International Paper Company in Malvern. He had been an employee of Regency Funeral Home since it opened in March of this year. On August 10, 1952, he married Frances Cornelius in Hope. They moved to Malvern and started their wonderful life together of 46 years. Survivors include his wife, Frances Bailey; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael Joseph and Fran Bailey; a daughter and son-in-law, Marsha Elizabeth and Ron Parsley; and four grandchildren, Benjamin, Genia and Stephen Bailey and Mark Parsley, all of Malvern. Funeral services were Thursday, December 10, at First United Methodist in Malvern with Rev. Roy P. Smith officiating. Burial was in Oak Ridge Cemetery under the direction of Regency Funeral Home of Malvern. Pallbearers were Tommy Smith, Bill Hunt, Troy Brashears, Joe Faucett, Terry Russell, Clarence Copeland, Wendell West and Eric Russell. Honorary pallbearers were members of Rockport Masonic Lodge.
