PRESCOTT 85
Published Tuesday, December 15, 1998 in the Nevada County PicayuneBISMARCK 52 The Wolves didn't care for the running they had to do at the hands of Fordyce, so they took their frustrations on the helpless Lions. Early on, though, it seemed as if neither team wanted to score. Both teams mined plenty of iron as the ball hit the rim time after time, but found no nylon. The first points were scored by Bismarck from the line with 5:52 showing in the first. Prescott tied the contest at 1-1 shortly thereafter with a free throw, then hit the game's first field goal with 4:46 showing to take a 3-1 lead. This was an advantage the Wolves would never lose. McClure called for the press, and Bismarck's offense fell apart as the Wolves forced turnovers and ran at every chance. Period one ended with the home team up 16-5. The track meet continued in the second quarter as the Wolves pressured Bismarck up and down the court, taking advantage of Lion mistakes and enjoying a healthy 41-17 halftime score. The third quarter was much the same as the Wolves outscored the Lions 27-15 and raced to the 85-52 win. The win gives Prescott a 5-1 overall record and a league mark of 2-1. Wilson led Prescott with 21 points, while Sidney Giles contributed a healthy 19. Hobbs was again Mr. Consistent with his 14 points on the night, and Andrew Fellows broke the double- digit barrier with 10. Coy Hasley led Bismarck with 10 points. Prescott was 14 of 23 from the line, while Bismarck converted 14 of 22. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
