McKelvey Wins ElectionPublished Wednesday, December 23, 1998 in the Gurdon TimesBarbara McKelvey, graduate of Gurdon High School and daughter of Mary Coplen, is the newly elected mayor of Hamburg. McKelvey won with 60 percent of the total vote. McKelvey is the director of the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce. She takes over the Mayor's job January 1. Previously, she lived in Arkadelphia, where she was executive director of the Arkadelphia Chamber of Commerce and great supporter of Clark County. McKelvey's son, Jared Clark, is a logger in Clark County. Her daughter-in-law, Dana Rutherford Clark, and grandson, Daniel, her sisters, Ruth Bridges and Cynthia Davidson, Kaylee Bridges and her mother were present for the victory party in Hamburg.
