College NewsPublished Wednesday, December 23, 1998 in the Gurdon TimesTwenty-seven students at Southern Arkansas University (SAU), Magnolia, were recently recognized as national outstanding leaders and chosen to be included in the 1999 edition of Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. Katie McKinnon of Gurdon, a senior agriculture business major at SAU, was among those chosen for this honor. The students were chosen based on their academic achievement, service to the community, leadership in extracurricular activities and potential for continued success. The 27 SAU students join an elite group of students selected from more than 1,900 institutions of higher learning in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and several foreign nations. Ownership of all Nevada County Picayune content from the beginning of the newspaper, including predecessors, until May 2001 was contributed by the John and Betty Ragsdale family to the Prescott Community Freenet Association.
