An early morning accident Sunday claimed the lives of two Gurdon residents, while injuring a third.

According to reports from the Arkansas State Police, William A. King, 21, and Darinda Johnson, 24, were killed in the accident. Billy J. Fallin, 23, was seriously injured in the mishap.

According to the report, the 1997 Chrysler was headed west on Interstate 30 around 6:30 a.m. Sunday when it drove off the road and onto the shoulder, running over three reflective triangles before hitting the left rear of a parked semi-trailer.

The Chrysler, driven by Fallin, came to a stop in the median. The semi had stopped because its air brakes were out. The truck driver had left in the cab to get parts and repair the trailer.

Fallin was transported to Baptist Medical Center in Arkadelphia initially, and later transferred to St. Joseph's Hospital in Hot Springs, where he was listed in stable condition Monday morning.
