RedlandHazel MeeksPublished Wednesday, January 6, 1999 in the Nevada County Picayune Yes, I'm gladly using my electric blanket and so happy to have it. Our community was saddened this week over the sudden death of Jackie Bidwell. Jackie Bidwell lived with his mother, Frances Bidwell, and was only 53 years old. Justin Hillery's parents, Rhonda and Jerry Hillery, honored him with a belated birthday party and I must say it was before this cold weather, because he and seven friends stayed in the barn. Our friend and Boughton reporter and husband Evelyn and Willie Hooks are both patients in St. Michael Hospital in Texarkana. I was asked to announce the Cross Road Singers will be at Boughton Baptist Church on January 16 at 7 o'clock. Please try to attend. Cole Hillery spent Friday night with Brodie Joyce. Julene Hulan and I visited the Hooks in St. Michael's on Saturday. Those celebrating a late Christmas with Julene and Willie Hulan were Paul and Audry Curtis and their son, Jimmy, and his family from Magnolia, their son, Thomas, Linda and girls from Gurdon, their daughter, Sandy, Bud and Shanna Loe and Shanna's friend, Kim. I visited my Aunt Lucy Taylor at Hillcrest Rehab on Friday and I also visited Donnie Rinkle. Robert and Marion Baker from Fairbanks, Alaska, recently visited Roy, Betty and Nuggy Cagle. Roy's mother, Beulah, is in a Dallas hospital, not doing good at all. His sister, Lola, broke her hand, so you see the Cagles are having their troubles.
