CaneyRuby WickerPublished Wednesday, January 6, 1999 in the Nevada County Picayune Billy May and his family of Virginia and North Carolina spent the holidays with his mother, Helen Mary, and other relatives here. His sisters, Sue Church, and family of Hot Springs, Donna Smith and family and Mary Miller and family were all with Helen at Christmas and New Year's. Brandon Rhodes is out of the hospital and doing well. The surgeon found more damage to his shoulder than originally thought. He was in church Sunday and can do the normal things except lift. Kevin Karmel and his family visited his parents, Ken and Celia, for the holidays. The twins are growing like weeds. Glyndon and Janie Franklin of Cale visited Bob and Carolyn Hicks New Year's Eve and they rang in the new year together. Dennis Hicks of Dallas was home for the holidays. Keith Karmel of Benton was also home for the holidays. Cannon and Heather Callicott rang in the new year with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Buddy and Loe, and other family members. Margie Reed and I visited with Raymond and Phenae Hicks Sunday afternoon. Raymond is doing well after surgery and can get around for a while without a cane or leg brace. He and Phenae attended church at Cale Sunday morning. Safrona Stokes spent the holidays with her parents, Junior and Ann Loe, and Milton and Ruth Stokes. She started back to her home in Jonesboro Saturday, but had to return to Caney after receiving a call that the roads were iced over and she couldn't get there from here.
