Nevada County Picayune and Gurdon Times Newspaper Archive |
BodcawAline ClausPublished Wednesday, January 6, 1999 in the Nevada County Picayune Did you have your blackeyed peas and hog jowl? I had mine a tradition that may keep. I didn't hear of very many watching the old year out and the new one in. I hear that our friend Evelyn Hooks has fallen and broken her hip again. We are thinking of you and wishing you well. We had some missing church today because of the cold. Peggy Butler has been spending some time with her dad, Alvin Butler. She has returned to Texas to her teaching job. Chris Butler from Ft. Sill, Okla., was home this weekend. He was called home because of the death of his great grandmother, Mary Chambless. It was good to have a new correspondent from Bluff City, my cousin Jerry McKelvy. As Jerry says, "Get your news together so we can report it." A lot of comments were made about the news. Bodcaw Church entertained at Hillcrest on Sunday. Ruby Mullins of Dallas spent one night with her sister, Ruth Baker. Basil Dorman is home after a stay in the hospital. Hope he is feeling better. Remember him.
