RosstonPublished Wednesday, January 13, 1999 in the Nevada County PicayuneMarguerite Williams Sympathy to the Beulah Simpson family and the Wayne Gibson family. They have both passed away since I wrote last. Virginia Dillard had a light stroke on Thursday afternoon and was carried to St. Michael Hospital in Texarkana. They did an MRI and other scans, but do not as of yet have a report on them. Please remember her and her family in your prayers. Steve Dillard of Little Rock has taken his grandmother, Odeal Dillard, home with him. We have learned that Josie Rollings had another operation and is in a Ft. Worth, Texas, hospital. We all wish her a speedy recovery. Pat Kion of Houston, Texas, daughter of Wayne and Tommie Lew Jarvis, has been their guest this week. Tommie Lew's sister, Daisy Methvine, of Pine Bluff has also been a guest. Pat was a visitor in church on Sunday. Other guests in church were three of Bro. Petie's cousins. We were happy to have them. Jana Gibson has been having tests run this week. We're afraid she will have to have gall bladder surgery soon. Lewis Jackson is due to have surgery on his neck again. Winnie Bailey is due to have cataract surgery on her eyes on Tuesday in Texarkana. Please pray for all these people as they undergo surgery. Dale Evans went to his doctor in Hope this week. He got a good report, but Marjorie learned that her blood pressure was too high. Roscoe and I visited with Delton and Veneta Bustin one afternoon this week. Veneta's condition remains about the same. They still need our prayers. We visited with Virginia and Joe Dillard at St. Michael's on Saturday. Bro. and Mrs. Mike Harmon and Bro. Ray Bowman were also visitors. That afternoon we visited Marty and Raegan Williams and granddaughter, Ginger, all of Texarkana. We all went to the Ole Feed House for supper. Our guests for lunch today were Booie Williams of Prescott and granddaughter, Kathryne Rocole, of Magnolia. They went to Sunday school in Prescott and came out to Salem Church to hear Matt Johnson preach. Bro. Sam Houser answered our call as evangelist this fall and he and his wife will be coming in August. More about this later. Our youth department has started a GMA program for girls and Galelian program for boys. Laura will be teaching the older girls as Bro. Petie says, "Something about girls." I know this will be a good program. Joie and Ellen Wallace, Jana Gibson and Tara Carlton will also be teaching. Roscoe has been under the weather this week with a cold, but he is better and able to be back in church. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
