Oak GroveLula Q. KendrickPublished Wednesday, January 13, 1999 in the Nevada County Picayune What are you? A lot of people are like a wheelbarrow, not good unless pushed. Some are like canoes, they have to be pushed. Some are like a kite, if you don't keep them on a string, they fly away. Some are like footballs, you can't tell which way they bounce next. Some are like balloons, full of wind and ready to blow up. Some are like trailers, they have to be pulled. Some are like a good watch, open faced, pure old, quitely busy and full of good works. Our budget rally will be the 4th Sunday in January. All members are asked to pay $50. Reporting date February 7 at New Union at 7 p.m. Presiding elder, Rev. Thomas Adair. Young Circuit first quarterly conference will be the first Sunday in February. There will be a called meeting at the Civic Center at Oak Grove the 18th of this month. All members are asked to be present. Janet Smith, Gloria Joe and I went to Texarkana Saturday to do some shopping. Eunice Blake passed away Sunday. Her funeral has not been set at this writing. She was the widow of Ollie Blake. Mimie Evans spent the holiday in Houston, Texas, with her children, Earlie D. Martin and his wife Vira. They have moved to the Rosston area, near their daughter, Pam, who bought the land from Mrs. Vera Purifoy. I am sure Mrs. Purifoy was glad to have them near her as a neighbor. Gracie Howell passed away this morning at University Medical Center in Little Rock. Gloria Young is her mother. Her grandmother, Genia Burnell, raised her. Sympathy goes out to the Young family.
