Prescott's two senior teams readied themselves for the Southwest Arkansas Invitational Tournament at Saratoga by doing away with arch-rival De Queen.

The Leopards and Lady Leopards ventured to Prescott Tuesday, Jan. 5, only to be sent home with conference losses.

The Curley Wolves spanked the Leopards 58-52, after letting De Queen back in the game and giving their coach more grey hair.

The Wolves opened the contest with a 20-10 lead at the end of one, apparently in control of the contest.

However, halftime arrived with the score knotted at 29-29, as Prescott failed to keep the pressure on the Leopards.

Period three came and went with Prescott back in the lead, but only by two at 41-39.

Brandon Wilson led Prescott's offensive attack with 20 points. Matt Brannon was next with 14, while Scott Hobbs scored 10.

De Queen's Young also had 20, while Reynolds had 14 and Hall had 10 to mirror Prescott's results.

Prescott, now 9-3 overall and 4-1 in conference play, was 12 of 17 at the line, while De Queen converted eight of 14 free throws.

"We need to put 32 minutes together," Coach Matt McClure said. "If we do we can beat anyone in the conference.

"We play good at times, but we have to quit letting people get back in the game."

Prescott is currently tied for second in the league with Mena. Fordyce, still undefeated, is atop the board.

However, McClure said, the Wolves have nothing left of their season but conference games. This means each and every contest counts.

The team, he said, has to be ready to play every game every night, as a lot of teams are close to the top in conference standings.

As it stands, Bismarck is alone at the bottom, with the rest of the league bunched together behind the Redbugs.

"There are no weak teams in this conference," McClure said.
