Chamber Has Five Events PlannedBY JOHN MILLERPublished Wednesday, September 29, 1999 in the Nevada County Picayune Things will be busy for the Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce in October. According to executive director Mary Godwin, five different events have been scheduled for the month. October will begin with a ribbon cutting Thursday, Oct. 7, at 10 a.m. at Green Acres Lawn and Logging, located at 1121 West First Street North. Next comes a farewell assembly for Walt Denton, the executive director of the Prescott-Nevada County Economic Development Office. Denton has announced his intentions to leave his office and Oct. 8 will be his last day. It is also when the going away party will be held. Wednesday, Oct. 13, will see the Chamber's community coffee, sponsored this month by the Nevada County Unit of the American Cancer Society. October, Godwin said, is National Cancer Awareness Month, and the local ACS chapter hosts the coffee. It will be from 9:30-11 a.m. at Central Baptist Church. This will be followed Thursday, Oct. 14, by a ribbon cutting at Loves/Hardees at 9 a.m. The month concludes with a ribbon cutting and open house at the Nevada County Recycling Work Center at 314 E. 2nd. This event will be held from 9:30-11 a.m. From there, it will be time to begin thinking about the various Chamber-related Christmas events that will be coming up.
