Published Wednesday, January 13, 1999 in the Gurdon Times

The Arkansas Big Buck Classic will be held January 22-24 at the Little Rock Expo Center. Show hours are Friday, 1:00 to 9:00 p.m., Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Sunday, 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

This year, in an attempt to recognize Arkansas deer, the classic will present the first state- wide county award.

There will be 75 plaques given for the largest gross scoring buck from each county brought to the classic. All entries will be eligible for county awards in addition to other categories at the show.

The classic will have on display, for the first time in the United States, a cutting edge interactive whitetail exhibit by Dick Idol. Featured are some of the greatest bucks ever taken in Canada, along with a collection of the most massive sheds ever exhibited.

The seminar stage will be set for Dan Fitzgerald, bow hunter and producer of Passing Through, the number one selling hunting video. Fitzgerald will be presenting the 'ABC's for Successful Bowhunting.'

Other attractions include a live deer display with an albino buck, Monster Whitetails of Arkansas, Safari Park, Whitetail World Museum, the Arkansas State Chili Cook-Off, 4-H Kids Room, Bowmasters Indoor Bow Tournament and Chevy Truck Give-away. The South Texas Rattlesnake Handlers will also be at the classic with about 80 rattlesnakes.
