Published Wednesday, January 20, 1999 in the Gurdon Times

State Rep. Percy Malone of Arkadelphia has been elected House chairman of the Legislative Joint Budget Committee, which reviews and recommends action on all state government spending proposals presented to the Arkansas General Assembly.

"I am excited about taking on this leadership position and working with my colleagues to develop the spending priorities for our state government," Malone, who is serving his third term representing portions of Clark and Nevada Counties in the General Assembly, said. "The decisions we make this year will have a far-reaching effect on Arkansas. The priorities we set must reflect the demand for a state government that is efficient, effective and fair."

House members of the Joint Budget Committee elected Malone to serve in the leadership position during the 82nd General Assembly, which convened on Monday, January 11, at the state Capitol in Little Rock.

In addition to chairing the Joint Budget Committee, Malone serves as a member of the House Public Health, Welfare and Labor Committee, of the House Insurance and Commerce Committee and of the Joint Committee on Energy.
