Following the 1998 fall semester at Southern Arkansas University, Magnolia, 387 students were named to the SAU dean's list.

Lanny K. Allen of Gurdon was included on the list..

To be eligible for the dean's list, a student must be registered in 12 or more semester hours and attain a grade point average of 3.50 or above.

The Office of Academic Affairs at Henderson State University recently announced that 199 collegians earned dean's list status and approximately 374 students made the University's honor roll for the fall semester, 1998.

Making the dean's list from Gurdon are Quincy Charles, Amanda Francis, Benjamin White and Grant Woods.

Making the honor roll from Gurdon are Jeri Allen, Holly Bratton, Holly Elledge, Erin McKay, Kara Thomas and Melanie Wilson.

In order to qualify for the dean's list, the student had to earn a perfect 4.000 on 12 or more semester hours of course work.

Students on the honor roll were required to earn a 3.500 grade point average on 12 or more semester hours.

Tara Lynn Hughes was named to the dean's list for the 1998 fall semester at Central Baptist College in Conway.

To be named to the list a student must be full time with a minimum grade point average of 3.500.

Hughes is the daughter of Terry and Vicki Hughes of Gurdon. She is a 1998 graduate of Gurdon High School and a member of Red Springs Baptist Church in Gurdon. She is a freshman pursuing an associate of arts degree.
