Alcoholics Anonymous, a fellowship of men and women who wish to stop drinking, meets every Tuesday at 8:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church.

Al-Anon, for those affected by another's drinking, meets Thursday

evenings at 8:00 in the church. For more information call 887-5991.

Mom's In Touch prayer group meets every Tuesday at 9 a.m. at First Baptist Church.

A representative of the Texarkana Social Security office will be at the Nevada County Courthouse on Thursday, January 28; Thursday, February 25, and Thursday, March 25.

Supplemental Security Income (SSI) pays monthly checks to people who are aged, disabled or blind and who do not own much or have much income. SSI is not just for adults. Monthly checks can be paid to disabled and blind checks. To find out if you are eligible, call 1- 800-772-1213.

The city of Prescott and the Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce will hold a reception in honor of Chief William Latin Wednesday, January 27, from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m.

Chief Latin will be retiring from the Prescott City Police force at the end of January. The reception will be held at the Chamber of Commerce office. Everyone is invited and encouraged to attend.

The Nevada School District board will have its regular meeting of in the school library Thursday, January 21, at 7 p.m.

The Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce will have a ribbon-cutting and open house for Fran's House of Hair January 28 at 10:00 a.m. Fran's is located at 326 East Second South, next to Beautiful Accents. Everyone is encouraged to attend.

The Ila Upchurch Corporation will hold its combined Martin Luther King Junior and Black History celebration January 24 at Macedonia Baptist Church at 5:30 p.m.

The theme for the program will be 'Getting Reacquainted with Your Roots through Prose and Spirituals.' Musical and participation by area churches, Mrs. Gladys Kirby, president. The public is invited to attend.
