Rose Garden Club

Published Wednesday, January 27, 1999 in the Nevada County Picayune

Elizabeth Haltom was hostess to the Rose Garden Club on January 19 at 1:30 p.m. with Max Hairston and Ida Haynie as co-hostesses.

Betty Turner, president, presided over the business session.

In observance of Arbor Day the club voted to purchase a Bradford pear tree to be planted on the left side of Hillcrest Nursing Home.

In lieu of the February meeting the club will attend the Arkansas Flower and Garden Show to be held on February 19 at the Little Rock Statehouse Convention Center.

Flo Brackman presented the second of a series of lessons on flower design. She demonstrated two crescent design arrangements suitable for a table.

Mrs. Brackman used juniper to form one crescent line and clipped pine for the other line. She used flowers which were compatible with the chosen table appointments, pointing out that plant materials, container and all table setting components should be in harmony.

Ida Haynie brought a lovely spring arrangement and Leona Ballard brought a lovely dried arrangement made from materials picked along the roadside.

The hostesses served a delicious dessert plate.
