Lisa Marie Harrison of Prescott was sworn in on January 5 as the newest member of HHC 212th Signal Battalion in the Arkansas Army National Guard at Hot Springs.

Pvt. Harrison enlisted as a personnel administration specialist and will begin basic and individual training on August 25 at Ft. Jackson, S.C., and upon completion is eligible to receive up to $9,036 in tuition assistance with the Montgomery G.I. Bill in addition to the month pay check.

Army Sgt. Clifton J. Haynie has returned from a deployment exercise at the National Training Center (NTC) at Fort Irwin near Barstow, Calif., after participating in desert warfare training.

The NTC, located in the Mojave Desert, is one of the Army's four combat training centers. It provides mid- to high-intensity training on a rotational basis, primarily to mechanized infantry, armor battalions and brigades. The units and support elements learned to train with heavy mechanized equipment.

Haynie is a Stinger team chief with the 44th Air Defense Artillery at Fort Hood near Killeen, Texas.

He is the son of Bertha Martin of Prescott and Clinton Marks of Chidester. He is a 1986 graduate of Prescott High School.
