PRESCOTT 55
Published Wednesday, January 27, 1999 in the Nevada County PicayuneFORDYCE 39 The Wolverettes began their busy week Monday, Jan. 18, with an important 55-39 win over the Lady Redbugs of Fordyce. Prescott jumped all over the Lady 'Bugs early, as the Wolverettes took a 14-3 lead at the end of one and never looked back. In fact, the Wolverettes never allowed Fordyce to get in the game. The Lady 'Bugs did cut into the lead by halftime, reducing the double-digit deficit to nine as the score was 24-15 at the break. But the Wolverettes had no intention of letting the Fordyce team think it could play on their level. By the end of the third quarter, Prescott was severely pounding the Lady 'Bugs with a 41-25 score. The final eight minutes wasn't pretty as the Wolverettes rolled. Prescott was 11 of 16 from the charity stripe, while Fordyce converted seven of 19 free throws. Graham led all scorers with 20 for Prescott while Andrea Cossey netted 11. Shequita Wilson paced Fordyce with 11. This game was originally scheduled for Jan. 26, but had to be moved to Jan. 18 because of a conflict Fordyce had. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
