Mom Arrested In AssaultBY JOHN MILLERPublished Wednesday, January 27, 1999 in the Nevada County Picayune Blood is not always thicker than water. Take the case of Mary Kraft, 61, of Prescott. According to the Wayne Kisselburg, criminal investigator for the Nevada County Sheriff's Office and Prescott Police Department, Kraft was arrested Wednesday, Jan. 20, for second degree battery, theft of property and terroristic threatening. Kisselburg said Kraft allegedly assaulted her daughter, Brenda Spradling, 37, of Prescott, who was living at the home of an aunt, Ethel Person. Kraft reportedly went to Person's house and accused Spradling of stealing from her (Kraft). She allegedly threw a jar, striking Spradling, who then wrestled Kraft to the ground, releasing her when she stopped struggling. Kraft then, according to reports, threw a pot of hot coffee on Spradling and threatened to kill Spradling and Person as she left. Kraft later returned to Person's home, reportedly taking about $2,000 worth of Spradlings' possessions. Kraft was charged with second degree domestic battery, theft of property and terroristic threatening. She was released on $30,000 bond.
