Charles Anthony Cooper

Charles Anthony 'Coop' Cooper, 16, of Friendship went to be with the Lord on January 17, 1999.

Charles was born February 5, 1986, in Fort Smith the son of Charles Arthur and Shirley Kaye Morgan Cooper. He was an eleventh grader at Ouachita High School, a member of Anchor Baptist Church at Brown Springs and a member of FBLA. He was on the basketball and baseball teams and was part of the 1996-97 state baseball runner-up team. He was a brown belt in taekwondo, an avid pro wrestler fan and would have been a member of the class of 2000.

Charles was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, A. E. and Gladys Morgan.

Survivors include his parents, Charles and Shirley Cooper; one sister, Stephanie, and her husband, John Gray, of Malvern; his grandparents, Art and Gertrude Cooper of Whelen Springs; a best friend, Edward Talbert of Friendship; and numerous aunts and uncles.

Funeral services were held Thursday, January 21, at Ruggles-Wilcox Chapel with Bro. Walter Yarbrough and Bro. Larry Duke officiating. Interment was in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery under the direction of Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home of Arkadelphia.

Pallbearers were Edward Talbert, Ronnie Smith, Mark Rogers, Matt Rogers, Nick Gray and Jordan Duke. Honorary pallbearers were the Ouachita High School senior basketball team and former coach, Ricky Mooney.

Memorials may be made to the Cooper family or the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
