Golden OldiesDoris VancePublished Wednesday, February 3, 1999 in the Gurdon Times The seniors with January birthdays enjoyed the delicious birthday cake, donated by Big Star, on January 28. We wish to thank them for donating it for us. Memorials have been given to the Gurdon Senior Citizens Center in memory of Paul Fagin, Helen Wilson, Loy Garner, Belva Black, Tom DeWoody and H.C. Niehuss. We have several new people who are attending the center. The center is really glad to have them join us. Junior Thrasher is calling bingo on Monday of each week, games are being played, and the seniors are enjoying visiting with one another and enjoying delicious meals. The center is an important part of our community. It reaches out to the communities also. Home delivered meals are taken to shut-ins Monday through Friday. We appreciate very much all that the Cabe Foundation and Austin and Mary Lou Capps have done for the center, which is a United Way Agency. Ownership of all Nevada County Picayune content from the beginning of the newspaper, including predecessors, until May 2001 was contributed by the John and Betty Ragsdale family to the Prescott Community Freenet Association.
