Army Spec. Jonathan Z. Francis has been decorated with the Army Achievement Medal.

The medal is awarded to soldiers who have served in any capacity in a noncombat area authorized by the Secretary of the Army. The recipients have distinguished themselves by meritorious service or achievement and accomplished the act with distinction.

Francis is an automatic rifleman assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 9th Infantry at Camp Casey, Tongduchon-Up, South Korea.

Francis is the son of Daniel A. and Jeweliann B. Francis of 4319 Highway 67 South, Gurdon, Ark. and a 1996 graduate of Arkadelphia High School.
