Teacher Nominations WantedPublished Wednesday, February 3, 1999 in the Gurdon TimesThe Gurdon Chamber of Commerce is seeking nominations for teacher of the year for 1998. Persons wishing to make a nomination must submit a letter of recommendation detailing why they feel this teacher should be recognized by the community. Students are also encouraged to write letters in support of their favorite teacher. "Our teachers make a tremendous contribution to our children," Charles Shaver, president of the chamber, said. "This award is our way of letting the teachers know how much the community appreciates them." The teacher of the year will be announced at the annual Chamber of Commerce banquet. Nominations must be mailed to the chamber at P.O. Box 187, Gurdon, AR 71743. The deadline for nominations is February 16.
