Fox Is Certified

Published Wednesday, February 3, 1999 in the Nevada County Picayune

Dr. Alan Fox, a family physician in Prescott, was recently certified as a diplomate of the American Board of Family Practice.

Family physicians earn diplomate status by passing the board examination of the specialty of family practice. This is an intensive test of a physician's knowledge in pediatrics, medicine surgery, obstetrics, gynecology, psychiatry, prevention and other aspects of family practice.

The speciality of family practice combines the latest medical technologies with a long tradition of caring and service. Family physicians are educated and trained to care for the whole person, treating the majority of medical problems.

Family practice was recognized in 1969 as a medical specialty by the American Medical Association and the American Board of Medical Specialties. Family practice was the first specialty to require its Diplomats to recertify by taking recertification exams every six years.
