Alcoholics Anonymous, a fellowship of men and women who wish to stop drinking, meets every Tuesday at 8:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church.

Al-Anon, for those affected by another's drinking, meets Thursday

evenings at 8:00 in the church. For more information call 887-5991.

Mom's In Touch prayer group meets every Tuesday at 9 a.m. at First Baptist Church.

A representative of the Texarkana Social Security office will be at the Nevada County Courthouse on Thursday, February 25, and Thursday, March 25.

Supplemental Security Income (SSI) pays monthly checks to people who are aged, disabled or blind and who do not own much or have much income. SSI is not just for adults. Monthly checks can be paid to disabled and blind checks. To find out if you are eligible, call 1- 800-772-1213.

Do you want to know more about Fire Ants?

On Thursday, February 11, there will be an open forum meeting to discuss the red imported fire ant. Donna Shanklin, fire ant specialist with the University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service will be the guest speaker. At this meeting the public will be brought up to date on information concerning the dreaded ant and methods of control will be discussed. A question and answer session will follow Shanklin's presentation.

Plan to attend this informative session Thursday, February 11, at 6:00 p.m. at the Nevada County Extension office at 532 West First South, next door to Dollar General.

Ricky and Nancy Burke are pleased to announce that their daughter, Kristie, and son-in- law, Shawn Cuthbertson, have blessed them with their fourth grandchild, Bradley Joe Cuthbertson.

Bradley was born January 21, 1999, at Craven Regional Medical Center in New Bern, N.C. Bradley weighed 7 pounds and 10 ounces and was 19+ inches long.

He was welcomed home by his brother, Brayden, and sisters, Ashlie and Shelby. Bradley Joe was named after his 'Uncle Joey' who has lived in his heavenly home since January 28, 1996.

Entertainment, crafters and food vendors are needed for the 6th annual 'Saw Mill Days' Festival in Sparkman on Saturday, April 3. All proceeds benefit the Little League of Sparkman.

The Emmet PTA will not meet this month, because of the basketball games.

The next meeting will be the first Thursday in March.

Rev. Jerry and LeAnne Smith of Prescott welcome the arrival of Lauren Elizabeth Anne Smith on January 29 at 1:31 p.m. at St. Michael's Hospital.

She weighed 5 pounds and 14 ounces and is welcomed home by her big sister, Michaela, age 4.

Her maternal grandparents are J.T. and Marvalene Clark of Chouteau, Okla. Paternal grandparents are T.J. and Ruthell Smith of Gurdon.
