Upchurch Report Is GivenPublished Wednesday, September 22, 1999 in the Nevada County PicayuneThe Ila Upchurch Community Center has experienced a great year, according to a report by the board. The summer building project is almost to its completion. The men of the Upchurch board and friends have renovated the foundation of the building and installed a new floor covering. The board held its September board meeting Monday evening. Henry Butler, first vice president chaired the meeting. Interesting items discussed were progress of the center and the millage increase. The GED class started Wednesday, September 8, at 4 p.m. Gladys Kirby is chairman of the programs, educational activities and other services housed at the center. Freddie Hamilton and Tara Gulley are instructors. Helping citizens of this area is one of the major goals of the center. The Upchurch board is continuing to help spearhead and support the Boys To Men and Girls To Women programs. The ALE classes are off to a good start, the board reports.
